Interihotel BCN19 – Marketplace & talks.

On November 20, 21 and 22 we were exhibiting at the Interihotel fair, held at International Convention Center in Barcelona city. The perfect place for interior designers, architects and prescribers who are interested in searching new trends in furniture and decoration.

The event brought together 150 brands (25% more than in the previous edition) and 4,618 visitors from 42 different countries, consolidating itself as one of the main events of the contract-hospitality sector.

During the how, we could enjoy with interesting presentations by experts in Design & decorative arts. Workshops were organized about methodologies and useful practices for interior design professionals.

For this occasion, we present the Prestige version of our EVA PRO sunlounger, in the new tortora frame, combined with the ash fabric, a very elegant and stylish proposal, which perfectly works in those hotels who are looking for design and at the same time they do not want to give up continuing to offer the best quality and conform to their guests.

The Eva pro sunlounger, is a designed for hospitality professionals. It is certified by expert Laboratories, it holds up to 180 kg, it has an anti-finger trap back to prevent accidents and is made of polypropylene frame, a long-lasting material and that is also 100% recyclable.

We also present some examples of our new Balliu Selection products with the new Dalia chair. Stackable, made of aluminum profile and finished with epoxy paint. The success of the chair is on the cord, built with continuous polyester and PVC thread. Its composition makes it a highly recommended product for outdoor areas (gardens and communities) being very resistant to the weather.

In the press area, the decorators selected our Diana barstools, in textured white finish and sand fabric, those colors very well combined with the intense garnet color of the wall. The Diana barstool is a very suitable product for restaurant areas, it is light to be able to move it easily and stackable to save space in times of less use.

From Balliu, wewant to thank all those who visited our stand and the organizers for helping us during the preparation and development of the fair.

We visit the most important trade fair in the sector

On 2 and 3 September, as is tradition, we visited the Spoga trade fair held in Cologne (Germany) to get up-to-date on the latest trends in the garden furniture sector.

This year, the main theme of the fair was City Gardening or what it means to garden when there is no garden, showcasing solutions adapted to urban areas We discovered the recreation of small jungles in reduced spaces. We saw many accessories such as flowerpots and cushions and lots of vegetation that help accentuate the sensation of well-being and create small oases that invite one to take refuge from the stress caused by life in big cities.

Regarding fabric colours, there are lots of pastels, particularly yellow tones, which are complemented with greens, pinks and blues. Regarding structural finishes, we saw a clear trend towards more natural colours, browns, dove grey and anthracite grey, which confirms the trend that has been advertised in previous seasons of making the terrace a continuation of the interior, where designs are valid for both areas, uniting the design discourse and following one overall concept of the space.

While it is true that we have observed new trends for decoration and finishes, we cannot say the same about new garden furniture solutions. Materials such as aluminium, polypropylene and wood continue to be the stars of the show.

The fair paid particular and necessary attention to the environment; we saw products made from recycled material and proposals such as the appearance of Green Areas in urban spaces that help control the temperature and contribute to controlling climate change.

At Balliu, we are looking forward to visiting the next edition which will be about Sustainable Gardens, where we hope to find interesting solutions that help control the environmental impact.

In September 2019, we also visited the Habitat Fair in Valencia, the international showcase for the Spanish sector.

The fair is aimed at the national exports and projects market. Manufacturers present their new indoor and outdoor furniture, not just to agents and national points of sale but also to international influencers and buyers.

It helps to give visibility to companies that have still not taken that first step in beginning their export business and also to consolidate and increase the presence in external markets of those companies that already have export experience.

Our objective was to be up-to-date with new developments and observe new outdoor furniture trends to face the new season in our Balliu Store project.

Our installations have over 700 m2 for the display and sale of outdoor furniture. Although our brand Balliu is the star of the showroom, we like to expand the market with other powerful proposals to cover all the needs of the retail sector.

At the fair, we visited the brands that currently form part of our showroom to see their new designs and finishes.

Although the greatest success of the visit was getting to know new brands and, therefore, interesting outdoor furniture solutions that we hope will soon be on display at our Balliu Store showroom.

5 Key Factors for Creating the Perfect Terrace.

Summer is already here it’s time to spruce up the outdoors. Balliu has 5 keys you should follow to get the most out of your space and create the perfect terrace.

  1. Analyse the space you have.

Measure your terrace well so you can make the right decision on how to best use it. Take a good look at the ground, whether it is lawn, flagstones or cement – the type of ground will condition the type of furniture you should choose and the colours that will best suit it.

  2. Aim for maximum functionality.

Think about what type of activity will take place there. Will you use it for summer suppers with friends, for some leisurely sunbathing or for relaxing with a good book? Not all terraces are that big, so it is important to establish your priorities in order to make the most of it.

  3. Choose your furniture well.

Once you have decided on the functionality your terrace will have, choose the type of outdoor furniture that best suits the atmosphere you want to create. Remember that the furniture will be unprotected and will be subjected to changes in temperature. If you don’t choose the right materials, it will not keep long. We recommend choosing items that are resistant and durable and have been made to stand up to different types of weather. This way, you can be sure they will remain in good condition for many years to come. Comfort is important, so choose furniture that meets your needs and does not require excessive maintenance, leaving you free to enjoy your spare time as much as possible. Opt for timeless designs that suit your space and stay in fashion for a long time.

  4. Protect yourself from the sun.

If you have a terrace that gets the sun for many hours a day, look for solutions that provide you with shelter where you can enjoy your outdoor space at any time of day. There are many options available nowadays to suit any kind of terrace. Whatever style you choose (awnings, canopies or sunshades), we recommend that you pay special attention to the material it is made from and whether it has the necessary UV protection. Sunrays are very aggressive, weaken fabric, making it age more quickly, and fade the intensity of its colour. For areas hit by strong wind, make sure to use storm-resistant materials and use a heavy enough base for your sunshades to ensure they remain stable, so preventing unnecessary accidents.

  5. Add atmosphere to your terrace.

It’s time to decide on colours. Choose the ones that best adapt to your garden area. We recommend going for neutral fabrics for tables, chairs and parasols and then using more daring colours for additional furniture, such as loungers and mini loungers, or accessories, such as cushions, tablecloths and towels. This will give you an elegant space while adding personality and atmosphere to your terrace.

Now you know how to create your perfect terrace, let your imagination run wild and start designing your space. At Balliu, we have the outdoor furniture solutions that best adapt to your needs. Don’t hesitate to request more information from

The Green Beach has arrived!

We start the year with good ecological news, the first beach with the Green Beach Certificate in Catalonia is now a reality.

The Torre Valentina beach, in Calonge (Girona) has been awarded the Green Beach certificate, the first beach in Catalonia and the second in the whole of Europe to obtain it.

The award has been developed by the University of Girona Tourism Research Institute (INSETUR), within the framework of the European Models of Integrated Tourism in the Mediterranean (MITOMED+) project to which nine bodies and institutions from countries like Italy, Cyprus, Croatia, France, Belgium and Spain have affiliated, and it takes aspects such as accessibility, safety, sustainable management and water quality into account.

The accredited beach at Torre Valentina has 12 photovoltaic solar panels that supply power to the beach facilities and the lifeguard hut. They also, via a battery, power the domestic hot water, the lighting and all the household appliances in this municipal space. There is a completely free recharging service for electric bicycles. On the matter of accessibility, so as to guarantee access to the water for people with reduced mobility and their carers, the Balliu footbridge has been installed.

In Catalonia there are two other candidate beaches participating in the Catalonia model of integrated tourism project.

We would like to congratulate Calonge council for this pioneering initiative and on behalf of our company encourage everyone to be environmentally aware. The accredited beach at Torre Valentina is an example to follow in looking after these environmental and social aspects, and in contributing to the correct functioning of the planet.

Balliu, as a company that manufactures plastic sunloungers, is concerned about the environmental impact of this material, we reject the malpractice of single-use plastic products, and we manufacture long-lasting loungers with additive-free polypropylene making them 100% recyclable.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the project!
